Your nipples look weird you anorexic slut – Part two – Lauren Langley and AndromedaX

Read part one here

One of the more head-scratching insults thrown at any woman that clearly isn’t a 23 year old cheerleader is ‘Tranny!’

Now, one of the qualifications for being an idiot is of course being stupid. But it takes a very special level of Numpty to describe the teeny-tiny, icily beautiful gothic model AndromedaX, or the jaw-droppingly voluptuous glamour model Lauren Langley as blokes in frocks. Trannies? Really?  REALLY? What kind of men have you been hanging around with?

By ‘Tranny’ I think they mean ‘Different type of femininity wot I have not seen never in my life before, and therefore I’m confused and slightly worried,’ rather than ‘I truly believe you have a penis and are trying to trick us,’.  But you never know.

Here’s a picture of Lauren Langley:

And here’s a picture of AndromedaX:

As you can see, they both kinda look a lot like girls.  Some of the really convincing transvestites and transexuals also look like girls.  But the vast majority of people with breasts, hips, round little bottoms, feminine faces and no adam’s apple are, well, girls. The fact that somebody can look at a photograph of a woman in stylised makeup, or with larger boobs than average and think ‘GASP!  THAT WOMAN HAS A PENIS!‘ just blows my mind.

Here is Lauren and AndromedaX talking about the ‘Tranny’ type comments.

Lauren: ‘Are you a sex change?’ always a favorite. Yes I am five nine. But my vag is very much my own!

AndromedaX: I get called a transsexual/transvestite as well.

Lauren: Two of my friends are transsexuals I find it insulting that people consider that an appropriate insult. I guess my look is quite ‘in your face’ and AndromedaX’s is too and that is probably challenging for some people. But it still hurts although I expect it more now.

AndromedaX: Yeah it doesn’t offend me at all, and I have always said that I’m a transvestite male trapped in a woman’s body! 🙂 It’s sad that some people see it as an insult.

Lauren: I say EXACTLY the same thing, which is probably how these rumors get started. I have always had a love of the theatrical, I watch Drag queen tutorials on YouTube, I think they can look immense, just a shame people are so ignorant that that is the best way they can think of to insult a girl. But I have to say I love your look and its very feminine so I have to say it probably just stems from envy. Though it’s hard to feel that at the time.

AndromedaX: I think for me its just that I dress flamboyantly a lot of the time, plus I have been told I have quite a masculine bone structure, jawline etc.

Lauren: You have great bone structure, but it’s not masculine. I just have an over the top look when I model which is an exaggerated version of femininity. So I guess that is where that comes from.
It’s nice to see alternative forms of beauty and I have admired the work of all the girls on this thread at some point or another specifically BECAUSE their beauty is not cookie cutter. That is so boring.

Although it’s interesting (and I hope, a bit therapeutic) to take the piss out of stupid people for making stupid, hurtful comments at beautiful and talented women, there is a point to this entire ramble. And it’s this:

People that make nasty comments to you personally are doing it because they’re nasty, not because you are. It doesn’t matter who you are, somebody is going to say you’re fake, you’re a slut, you’re a man, you’re too fat or too thin, you’re flat chested or your tits are too big. It doesn’t matter if you’re ultra, super feminine, spectacularly otherworldly or a natural, unembellished beauty. People will be dicks to you because you’re on the Internet. And if people can say nasty, thoughtless things about these three very different models, they can say it about anybody.

Model profile – AndromedaX

AndromedaX is an alternative model from Suffolk, UK.  I’m not an alt or gothic model, but I am a bit quirky, so I have shot with a few photographers that AndromedaX has shot with.  And they would always say how fantastic she was.  So I looked at her pictures, and my God, they were right.

With one foot in traditional goth, and the other in, well, Alternative Things That I Don’t Really Understand, she pulls a completely different look for every single shoot, and they are all fantastic.  She’s incredibly unusual and very talented, and I just love her work.

Where have you been published?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been featured in several books, including ‘Worldwide Gothic: Chronicle of a Tribe‘ by Natasha Scharf, as well as various alternative lifestyle magazines such as the Norwegian magazine Rimfrost, Terrorizer, Devolution and of course the ubiquitous Bizarre magazine (along with virtually every other alt model on the planet!).

I was also lucky enough to have a couple of images featured in a calendar of gothic fantasy art created by the amazing Jason Juta last year, and to appear on a couple of album covers by American instrumentalist Cole Coleman.

In all honesty however, I have never been particularly motivated by being published, nor sought to be so. Its nice when it happens and I appreciate it, but I don’t actively pursue it. Lets face it: I’m 34 years old, I’m 5’ 2” and I’m a goth – I’m hardly going to grace the pages of Vogue or the next Pirelli calendar – so to me being published is nothing more than bragging rights… and I’m not really into doing the bragging/self-promotion thing, its just not me!

What’s your favorite photo of you?

I don’t really have a favourite; I usually have a favourite of the moment, but that tends to change fairly often! I would have to say that currently it is the blonde/white headshot image by Henry Murphy as it is unlike a lot of what I have done previously, as well as just being a really nice image in my opinion! But I (rather obviously!) don’t have any images I don’t like and am not proud of in my portfolio.

Who would you most like to work with?

That’s a really hard question to answer because again, it changes rather often! Currently I am enjoing the work produced by Darkmoda (Chris Riccio) and Russ Freeman but I’m sure if I looked I would find a dozen others! When I was still modelling on a more regular basis I did have a ‘want to work with…’ list and am happy to say I ticked off the majority of names on it (as in, worked with them, not annoyed them… although I probably did that too!).

What’s the one thing you wish you had known when you started modeling?

Oh god, I’m sure I made countless rookie errors…! I think the one thing I wished I’d realised at the start is that it is pointless to compare yourself to x/y/z other models; you’re you, they’re them, and worrying that you are too short/fat/old/whatever is completely counter-productive and detrimental to one’s self-esteem. Just be the best you can at being YOU, and make the most of what you have.

Who is your favorite model?

My all-time favourite model is and always has been Razor Candi. That girl is just incredible: ethereal, otherworldly looks and the most amazing bone structure and shape. And I am ever in awe at her versatility and styling skills. To me, she sets the bar for all other alt models.

My other favourite at the moment has to be the fabulous Maja Stina, for all the same reasons: she’s just got ‘it’, that thing that makes a model (alt or otherwise) stand out from the crowd. Striking bone structure and features, incredible figure, and can pose like a legend. I’m constantly gobsmacked by her photos, not to mention her styling skills. Absolutely top-class.

Thank you for talking to us Andromeda X.  Where can we find you on the web?

What foundation do you use on a shoot?

Ruby Rosetta

“The best I’ve ever used is a Benefit stick thingy…not sure which photos I’m wearing it in though! It is pricey but really really good, esp for oily/porey skin,”

AndromedaX

“Max Factor Lasting Performance, with Maybelline mineral powder foundation over the top. It’s very thick  (too much for normal daytime use) but does make your skin look totally flawless,”

Misty

“My favorite foundation to use for photoshoots is MAC Studio Fix foundation. I have combination skin and am prone to blemishes; I also have olive undertones to my skin so I am yellow based. I find that MAC is the best brand around for yellow based skin, as other brands come out either too pink or too orange in camera, and the Studio Fix formula has great coverage and longevity for problem skin.

From my personal experience as a qualified MUA as well as model, I recommend applying with a MAC Duo tone Airbrush Brush for an even coverage with no streaking, and complimenting with a MAC Studio Fix concealer 1 shade lighter than the foundation, to brighten around the eyes,”

“Avoooon! It’s pretty and light.  Extra lasting liquid foundation,”

Artemis

“I’m always trying all sorts of foundations out but never anything too expensive because I’m a cheapskate!
I’m not sure I have an all time favourite but at the moment I use Loreal infallible foundation, seems to last pretty well, is quite thick so is good for shoots.
Unfortunately I touch my face too much so I always seem to wipe off foundation!”

Tallulah Toxic

“I don’t use anything expensive or fancy, just good old maybelline matte mousse foundation. I always find it takes harsh light really well (fantastic for location shoots where the light is unpredictable) and when it’s on my god does it stay there. I wore it for a recent shoot in water it was spitting with rain, the water current was fast flowing so that was splashing on my face and it never budged. fantastic coverage also, I have found it the best value for money and it’s a massive bonus that you can find it in most stores,”

Tansy Blue

“I like Maybelline Dream Matt Mousse foundation in ivory during the summer and light porcelain in the winter (I try hard not to tan but can’t help a little change in skin tone). They go on easily with my fingers (which I sanitise beforehand), I can blend blush and concealer with them, and powder sticks to them. I don’t wear make up when I’m not working so it’s the only foundation I own,”
